Jesus and the rich young man. Pt. 2

Now a man came up to Jesus and asked, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to get eternal life?"

How often have we been asked this? Maybe not directly, but indirectly we've faced this questions numerous times. What must a man do to earn eternal life?

Some would say that a life of feeding the poor and helping others is what gets us to heaven. Some would say a "good enough life." But look at what the Bible says:

Isaiah 64:6
All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away.

Even our good deeds do nothing to cover over our own sin. Jesus even says that the only one who is good is God. No others are worthy of eternal life by their own deeds. Thankfully Jesus died as a sacrifice to save us from the punishment of eternal death and made it so that our sinful selves our made clean through our renewal in Christ. What an uplifting outcome! :D
